It is an entertaining listen. Most of the characters are related one way or another.
I was attracted to it because a I have become somewhat fascinated by the Georgian period and I am always looking for a good Georgian romance that actually uses the settings, clothes, customs of the time instead of making it a Regency in disguise b It takes place largely in France. Glad I had my earbuds in, but at the tame end Violence Rating: Well this one wasn’t that lucihda, as it turns out When a Marquis Chooses a Bride.
Stab him with a pin! He had made a betrothal agreement between Antonia and a young man, Etienne, that he truly thought would be in her hoble interests.
Beneath the posturing and hedonism lies a seething hotbed of intrigue, deceit, and treachery. Unfortunately at over 10 hours long that was an impossibility for me. He actually is one. Many readers enjoy Lucinda Brant’s books as part of a wider series since her characters inhabit the same meticulously-researched 18th Century world with people and events cross-referenced throughout. Even the language doesn’t go too far away from Heyer’s. Many men are lining up to kiss the hand of the nautrual beauty but her heart satyg to one she can not have.
Antonia’s character never quite gelled because she continually acted like nible spoiled twelve year old. A Dance with the Devil. I claim the Duke of Roxton as my forevermore book boyfriend. One when you start reading and you forget everything about the real world we live in now and become one with the characters within the book.
