Title: The Myst Book of Atrus: : Libros
I’m rather envious of the ability to Write, th I never actually played the Myst games. My other libo involve book 3. I’m not sure, but regardless, it was a lot of fun reading through these books. Thanks for telling us about the problem.
Sure, the exploration pibro Ages does heavily factor into the story, but more as a way to inspire the descriptive imagination of the reader than to be a critical feature of the narrative.
Definitely my favourite of the three, it’s the story of Atrus’s childhood, his adolescence, and the events that led him to write the Age of Myst. The games forestall satisfaction with intrinsically rewarding kibro woven with the themes while also functioning as a narrative tool. But, as it turns out, I really believe the exhaustive descriptions and scene-setting to be simply Miller’s writing style.
Books by Rand Miller. For the first book, I wasn’t really connected to the story until it was almost over. The characters were well-developed, although I imagine it may be more enlightening if you are already familiar with the game. To ask other readers questions about The Book of Atrusplease sign up. I don’t know if my lack of Myst-lore has anything to contribute to that, but my inability to grasp a lot of the concepts kept me from getting really engrossed with it.
Based on the best-selling CD-ROM game, a fantasy novel fills out the lives of the game’s characters, tracing the strange apprenticeship of Atrus to his father, Gehn, who wields the power to create worlds. Overall I give this book four out of five stars. I knew from the 3rd book that Gehn went Baaaaaad, and sure enough all I got from this 1st book is that yes, he went Baaaaaad. I also think it’s a trait inherited from the book’s videogame predecessor; when playing a game, one is acutely aware of what’s visible from each vantage point of an island, and how many steps it takes to get from point A to point B.
The description and details came in just the right amounts. MYST is one of the coolest ideas for a fantasy that I’ve ever come across. I completely recommend it to anyone who wants to swim among the stars or be lord of a thousand worlds. And one of the reasons I love the whole premise behind “Myst” is the idea that the fantasy bit–the books that link to different worlds–are created through thoughtful analysis and an understanding of nature.
I feel like this book will only make sense to those that have played both the Myst and Riven computer games. The Book of Ti’ana: I think they are going to mean more if you’ve been lucky enough to play the game, but the books are and, man, I hate to say this boring.
Although I never got into the game and don’t really care for computer games like that, I do love to read.
If you know the myst game or watch video reviews of the series then all you need to know is that it captures the sense of wonder of the games, just without the puzzles. Oct 30, Julie Marr rated it liked it Shelves: Getting the trilogy just made sense. Although at some points it seemed slow the story overall wonderful.
D’ni certainly is an intense world, full of history and great characters. I have only read the book of Atrus in this particular group. I’m glad I re-read it, because the story is great. Uh, Atrus, you’re a smart dude. Detalles del producto Libro de bolsillo Editor: Other books in the series.
I no longer know him, but I know you, Atrus. There are many fantasy elements but the author dives deep into science fiction as well.
End of Ages, realMyst, and Uru. For fans lubro the Myst series of computer games who want to know more about the history of the D’ni and the backstory of Atrus this is great, although the beginning of The Book of Ti’ana is dry and slow going. Totally cool and better than any flying islands.
The Book of Atrus
There are never enough roads to that universe. Characterizations linro evoked emotions in me. And for the second, until half way through. One let down was that none librp the worlds he visits that he has the power to actually shape are especially amazing.
And hey, parts of it are totally new insights into the universe. I not only felt for Atrus throughout the story, but also for Gehn. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Doubtless they realized this, and approached Wingrove as an expert novelist, to help them accomplish a seamless transition from computer game to novel.
That being said, I’m not sure why anyone wouldn’t read it. I have tried to teach you the mechan I love this book not only for the story behind it but for the splendid moral integrity of two of the characters.
Atruw seeing The Myst Reader in a book store, I bought it but didn’t read it for a while. The book really on ever involved two characters at one time which I think contributed to the slowness: Reading the books later inspired me to play Riven which was also a challenging and fascinating game.
