D rated it it was amazing Apr 05, firsyth When they work out the name of the Jackal’s primary false identity, Lebel and the police come close to apprehending the Jackal in the south of France, but thanks again to his OAS contact, the Tbe leaves his hotel prematurely and evades them by only an hour.
Having sneaked into a suitable apartment to shoot from, the Jackal prepares his weapon and takes aim at de Gaulle’s head, but his first shot misses by a fraction of an inch when de Gaulle unexpectedly leans forward to kiss the tthe of the veteran he is honouring. And yet, it is one of the best examples I’ve read of page-turning, heart-stopping, breath-holding ady writing.
I found much impressiveness in this classic thhe story, despite the 3 star ceiling I ended up placing on it. I did an event with Freddy years ago in Australia and I was so nervous to meet him but he was such a charming gentleman–and very kind to me.
To me this is an anti-climax. My mother, the intellectual, found them to be “better than average genre novels” mom sometimes slips. View all 4 comments. No one will ever be able to accuse de Gaulle of being a coward, but haughty arrogance he has in spades. Lebel becomes suspicious of what the rest of the council label the Jackal’s fordyth “good luck”, and has the telephones of all the members tappedwhich leads him to discover the OAS agent.
I completely loved it. Alas, he has also influenced some of society’s less attractive elements.

Can’t find any book in this genre even close to it. Fredrrick have not seen it, but the reviews of tne movie are very good. However he isn’t as strong when it comes the characters themselves. This was a re-read for me, and I am glad I re-read this one. This book is one of the best books in its genre. New York, New York, U. His expertise on ferderick, disguising the identity, choosing the liberation day to kill the president, Role of Claude Lebel, how to track Jackal when there was not even enough technology compared to the present, i m awestruck, not only the content, this book is written with such brevity, u won’t even feel like anything has been added to increase the length of the book.
I never really ready a crime thriller before this book unless anyone concideres “The Broker” one.
