Much overrated, in my view.
What is strange is that they think that others should love the book, too. A common enough theme. Many items were drawn from the content of the foreword–the thirty-five page long foreword–which goes into great detail describing his hidden genius. I get it, people love this book. Return to Book Page. He has certain fascist tendencies that peek through his primarily apolitical musings. Its closest fictional libr is Dostoyevsky’s “Notes from Underground”. This book is not yet featured on Listopia. But what I found was not very funny at all.
Still, this is a great psychological study, to my mind. Iniciei o Desassossego em pessooa de Chapter 31, I felt, was brilliant. Tedium is not a sickness brought on by the boredom of having nothing to do, but the worse sickness of feeling that nothing is worth doing.

For me The Book of Disquiet ‘s author was too presumptuous by an order of magnitude. The only thing some people may learn from him is how to avoid life. This was recommended fernandp me by a friend of mine, Chicago bizarro author David David Katzman, specifically because of the growing influence it’s apparently having these days on all lovers of the surreal; because for those who don’t know, Fernando Pessoa was sort of the Portuguese version of Franz Kafka, a white-collar worker in Lisbon during the Early Modernist era of the s through ’30s, who barely published anything during his own lifetime but left behind over 25, pages of brilliantly ell work after his death.
Rather than finding myself chuckling at the author’s skewed view of self, I found myself more or less bored lkbro the point of anger by the tedium of it all. Want to Read saving…. I am reluctant to describe it as Existentialism, because of the apparent lack of Humanism. This is what this book is about and sometimes more.
So far, the best book that I’ve read this year. In fact, it took me almost a full month to finish pesska book but I must say that all the many hours I spent in it were all well-spent. I can’t flip through a hundred pages of poetry.
