Should I Read This? It’s not like he is the best main character ever, but he was sort of funny and most importantly he was way more enjoyable than Dee. I get that you have your Mercy Falls books to finish, though I think that Shiver ended fine, and I am certainly excited about those. And I’m just going to stop right there, because I could keep going, but I’m not one for a long review, and this is like the longest in my history. Dee has left home to attend the prestigious music boarding school, Thornking-Ash, and best friend James, who’s in love with her, follows.
Nov 12, Lynn rated it really liked it. She was so similar to James that her voice was not as distinctly apart from him as some may have preferred, and I could have done with hearing a little more from her. I liked things from James’ point of view.
That really bothers me. But I will be happy to hear if another one comes out!!!! Ballad starts with James and Dee at the private school for musicians.
Ballad: A Gathering of Faerie by Maggie Stiefvater
There is a little of James in myself so I can relate to him especially. View all 6 comments. I liked that some familiar characters were brought back and some lingering questions I had from Lament where answered in Ballad. Jun 15, Angie rated it really liked it Shelves: Despite their issues with each other in the beginning of the story, they both seemed to find something in each other that others hadn’t before.
They sound utterly engrossing and I like maggid fact that the author gets the teenage male voice down so well. Nuala just was who she was, not feeling any guilt or trouble by doing what she did as Luke did. Oh, how I wished for a miracle in the end!
I felt that the action increased ten-fold and the novel itself moved at a ballsd pace, whilst still effectively developing the characters and entangling us in a variety of story lines.
There is very little Dee and what you get of her is a very different side than in the first book. Right from page one I knew that this was going to be an introspective novel.
James fans will love this book, as baallad is he back with a bang. Ballad 34 37 Nov 08, So I can know what’s going on. The third of the trilogy, if you will. What are the details of Dee’s experiences in Ballad, because it seems she went through some freaky-deeky stuff. The books are filled with their own brilliance. And that’s a good thing. I knew I was reading Jame’s story but couldn’t help wanting to know what the hell was going on with Dee’s story!!
I’m addicted to this world and only hope she graces us with more to come! Want to Read saving….
The thing I liked the most was that Dee wasn’t the main character. Don’t get me wrong, this was still a very good book, and I did like it. Speaking of him – I loved how he set it up so that stirfvater could be saved, while knowing that James could not do it.
I loved it and i stiefvvater it!!!!! Driver of things with wheels. I knew there would be great things to come when I read Lament. Ballad is a portrait of James coming to terms with his unique talents, his unrequited love and concern for Dee, his perceived isolation from others, and his growing temptations towards Nuala on multiple fronts.
It’s also darker in its descriptions of faeries and the thoughts of the main characters. I thought this was a really good book by itself, but it was terrible as a sequel, especially as an ending to a series.
Ballad: A Gathering of Faerie
Though I love sarcasm and wit, James’ continual barrage of comments can make one weary at times and I found it unbelievable that any teachers even the intriguing Mr.
But I would love to see a return by Stiefvater to the world of Lament and Ballad. Oct 26, Angela rated it really liked it Shelves: The feelings were more realistic, the romance less filled with mind games, and the stakes much higher.
Maggie Stiefvater knows how to string together a sentence. Let me just say, if you bwllad the same way- then Ballad will not disappoint you. She doesn’t want to involve him with the Faeries anymore either. I liked it so much I bought more copies and gave them away for Christmas maggei. She did a complete from I’m not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn’t it. A great series should be able to grab you whichever instalment you pick up.
I was not disappointed.
